I have always tried to be active in my adult life, and have enjoyed swimming, hiking, yoga, and even attempted to tolerate running. Seriously though, what is this runner's high I hear people talk about!? I digress. A couple of years ago I decided to start weightlifting on my own, and it was then that I worked up the courage to try Farmgirlfit. I stalked the website and Facebook page for weeks and weeks before I had the nerve to sign up for my trial workout. I have been hooked ever since!
Nervous poops before first workout. Survived. Days later with gait altering delayed onset muscle soreness. Lots of grunting noises. Fewer nervous poops before second workout. Survived. Stretched with very friendly and supportive gals from class. Days later only making grunting noises walking down stairs. Years later no nervous poops. Not only survived but feel energized post workout. Weightlifter's high, whaaaaaat? Days later back at Farmgirlfit trying to talk Michelle into letting me use the lighter kettlebell when I know damn well she is going to make me use the forty-fiver. Workout complete and looking forward to the next Grind.
Finally getting my deadlift over 200 pounds! I have been chasing the 200 mark for a long while, so I was super pumped when I recently got 205 pounds for 3 touch-and-go reps, with my 6:30am gals and coach Dani cheering me on!
I want to back squat 180 pounds for a 1RM and perform a toes-to-bar that doesn't look like I'm having a seizure. Who am I kidding; a decent knees-to-chest would be great, too.
I've said it before and I will say it again - I want to be like Ann Foreyt someday!
Favorite: Any of the typical "bro" lifts - deadlifts, squats, and bench. I love cleans. I even enjoy the occasional low-rep wall ball workout. Least favorite: Any gymnastics-like movement where I generally make horrible facial expressions while thrashing around trying to tell my body what to do. Oh yeah, and overhead squats/snatches.
Oh crap, Jayme and Megan are still moving, better pick that weight up again. How many rounds is this?
Any gangster rap song that my mom would be horrified to know I listen to.
I have so many! I can't say enough positive things about FGF! I love their holistic approach to health and wellness, encouraging members to take care of their bodies with mindful recovery (complimentary yoga classes, lacrosse balls, and mobility drills, oh my!). As a physical therapist, I so appreciate the individualization and modifications the coaches offer members, which always prioritize proper form and safe functional progression to avoid injury. Another awesome thing, especially for a female gym, is the focus on building strength and confidence as opposed to focusing strictly on physical appearance. Least I forget the group of seriously bad ass and inspiring women with whom I share my workouts!
The day Michelle brought in custom tank tops, beaded necklaces, and "pain" whistles!! For the workout that day, anytime we were in "pain" we were to blow our whistles. Poor Savhanna had to coach us and I'm sure it was way too much noise, especially at 6:30 in the morning! So much fun, and lots of laughs that day. I still have the whistle!

I love people and being social, but I am also a serious homebody. I'm usually hanging out with my husband Ryan, eating, working to get my patients moving better, eating, snuggling with my beloved Frenchie, eating, or sleeping.
I looked like a young Chris Farley growing up. Blonde bowl cut and all.
Keep showing up. The hardest part is getting to the Grind. Once you show up, it's going to be a great workout. And for ladies thinking about joining - just do it! I promise you, you will not regret it!
FGF is more than just a gym – it’s a community of supportive and strong women. It is ridiculous how much joy I get from FGF! Thank you to all of the coaches for your patience, support, and guidance. You all make my day on the regular! #squadgoals
